Non-reality

Maybe it's because I was out of the country for the past year, but it just doesn't feel to me like there's a presidential campaign going on. Perhaps, though there are countless important issues to be discussed and debated, this is because neither of the candidates are really talking about anything. The campaign discourse is a tad below the level of a typical Today Show spot. And, having spent the last 2 weeks with 2 senior citizens and 1 soon to be senior citizen who blare Matt Lauer at ear-shattering decibels (and who for some reason see it necessary to TiVo and watch the show two or more times), I am on the brink of madness. I don't expect Socrates, but throw me a bone.
